Aloeride® and aloe vera research.

Aloe vera is a herbal compound that has been researched extensively. Much of the good quality research is presented below, this list may not yet include the most recent of good research. The combination of knowing what the generic compound is capable of (research) and proving that Aloeride® contains all the required molecules in absolute abundance (labtests) puts Aloeride® in a unique position: because Aloeride® contains all necessary molecules in abundance, it actually delivers all that research proves aloe vera can do.

Being a young company, we are not in a position to fund in excess of 1.5 million Pound Sterling for even the tiniest of double blind clinical trials. So it is with considerable admiration that I look at a company that did, however research with their product will provide fodder for Johnny Metanalysis* to fuel another distorted opinion on generic aloe vera.

Metanalysis: A technique currently popular in medical research, whereby all data from all available studies of something are combined, at times regardless of the quality of the data. The technique is used by researchers to get a maximum amount of statistical information (the most "power" possible), at times without worrying about distortion of the results.

The study group was people with IBS which falls into three subgroups namely: constipation-predominant IBS, diarrhoea-predominant IBS and alternating (between constipation and diarrhoea) IBS. Imagine what happens if the aloe vera you give to the latter two subgroups contains laxative molecules. Quoting independent laboratory tests on the product: "anthraquinone levels were quite elevated (48.2) and would be expected to have a laxative action if manufacturer suggested dosage is complied with."

So what was the outcome of this research? "This study was unable to show that the Aloe vera was superior to placebo in improving any aspect of patient quality of life using generic or disease specific tools following the treatment of symptoms associated with IBS."

Two issues with this research: 1) giving a product that contains laxative molecules to subgroups that suffer from diarrhoea may have influenced the outcome 2) the outcome is reflected on all aloe vera (products) yet is likely to be applicable only to aloe vera products containing laxative molecules.
Aloeride® is an aloe vera product where effectively all laxative molecules have been removed (<0.1ppm), it is a product in which the full width and breath of aloe vera molecules is present in abundance, and this is why it reaches the parts other aloe vera food supplements do not touch.
